Security Engineer (M/F)

Empower Talents & Careers is recruiting a Security Engineer for a client in the mining sector.

Main purpose:

The IT Security Engineer protects the company's information systems and data from information security threats. This role is crucial for securing all IT infrastructure, applications and data, including operational technology and data at remote mining sites. The engineer will be responsible for establishing and maturing the company's cybersecurity posture to meet international standards and prepare for accreditation. The role is primarily focused on the responsibilities of the IT department but also influences and monitors the steps being taken in all other areas of the business to manage information security risk.

Key responsibilities:

Sustainability

Security strategy & governance

•Define and implement security strategy, policies and standards.
•Conduct risk assessments and audits.
•Lead efforts towards international cybersecurity accreditation.
Technical security management

•Monitor firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus and SIEM.
•Manage vulnerabilities across systems and networks.
•Ensure data confidentiality with access control, encryption and DLP.
Third-party & supply chain risks
•Evaluate cybersecurity of partners and suppliers.
•Ensure contracts include strong security clauses.
•Work with business units to monitor and mitigate risks.

Incident response & operations

• Maintain and execute an incident response plan.
• Act as lead contact for security incidents and investigations.
•Conduct forensic analysis and implement preventative actions.

Training & awareness

•Deliver regular awareness training for all staff.
•Share updates on emerging threats and technologies.
•Support continuous learning and knowledge transfer.

Behavioural & social engineering risks
• Run training on phishing and fraud.
• Conduct phishing simulations and analyse results.
•Promote strong reporting culture.
•Enforce clear policies on sensitive data and verification.

Qualifications & certifications:

• Degree in IT security, information systems or equivalent.
•CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+ certifications are an advantage.
•Fluency in English.

Profil du poste

Experience & skills:

•Min. 3 years’ experience as a security engineer.
•Understanding of IT infrastructure and technologies.
•Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• International experience is an asset.
